The riff raff were always here but they lived elsewhere. My theory is the housing crash in 2008/2009 put tons of foreclosures on the market and they became rentals. That, along with the bad economy, drove down rents and the Free Shit Army could use their housing vouchers to live in areas previously beyond their means. At least that's when I noticed things going south in my area. One can only hope the rising house prices will start reversing the downward spiral but I don't plan to stay regardless.

I wonder how much this quick buck is going to cost these 3 juveniles and their families. So far we're up to the cost of an ER visit for 2, hospitalization for 1, and the cost of a funeral for 1. Plus, for the 2 survivors there will be legal defense costs. Yeah, I can see how whatever the intended victims were carrying was so totally worth it; NOT.

Dumbasses will be dumbasses. Too bad their mommies & daddies never drilled into them that this sort of activity was wrong and that it could get you killed. I suspect though, the mommies & daddies will be exclaiming 'My baby didn't do nothing'. It seems to be the trend these days when an intended victim turns the tables and makes a culprit into the victim of their own stupidity. Wouldn't it be nice to see a parent/family member stand up and say "I tried to raise the boy right but he was just too damned stupid to listen; he got what he deserved. I want to apologize to the fine folks my child intended to do harm to."
It's also just a few blocks from the Aurora PD headquarters (Chambers and Alameda). I'm hoping A) that this is a good shoot, and B) that these thugs are held up as an example of bad outcomes from bad decisions. Maybe other misled youths will reconsider their choices if this is heavily publicized. Probably not, but one can hope. And carry.

What I've noticed is that parts of Denver that used to be terrible in 2007 are now really nice and expensive while parts of Aurora that used to be nice no longer are. Case in point: North Denver, I had no idea what area people were talking about when they said the Highlands were nice. I thought they were talking about Highlands Ranch.

I lived in Aurora in 1999 and our house was one block from the back gate of Buckley Air National Guard base. When it became an Air Force base I told the wife we were moving because the area was going to turn to shit from the transition to a full time military base. We moved to Ft. Collins and it did not take long for Aurora to become a bad place to be, especially near the base. I was through there last October and where we lived has just gone down hill.

Too bad, it was a nice place.

Aurora was nice and affordable which was good for middle class families. All of that changed in the 90s IMHO and that is when our family left.

When I lived in the Springs I was surprised how bad some areas around Ft Carson were. It was an eye opening experience. Before living there I assumed "military town" = good, but now I am wiser.

<snipped full article to avoid copyright issues>
Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz and District Attorney George Brauchler (credit: CBS)

Brauchler says Colorado’s self-defense law allows the use of deadly force.

“If you have a weapon on you and you are placed in imminent fear of serious bodily injury or death, you are entitled to defend yourself,” Brauchler said.

Brauchler noted it’s not a case of Make My Day because the shooting didn't happen inside a residence.

“This is straight up regular common sense and statutorily codified self-defense,” he said.

Police were working to identify the three robbery suspect and want the public’s help. They are not ready to identify the man who shot them.

I thought of all the three guys that one died and two went to the hospital. Why don't they know who they are?
