Yeah, the gas mileage on those things sucks(12+ gallons of 95% nitromethane in 1000 feet and about 4 seconds).
The bike has the edge in acceleration, the cars will always win out in top speed because of aerodynamics. On a road course, the bikes have the advantage in acceleration and line choice, the cars have the advantage in cornering force and braking ability, so it depends on the track who wins there. On most tracks, cars hold the outright lap record.

Actually you've got a great point there. I do believe that F1 cars will outrun GP bikes in circuits handily. But I can't afford an F1 car, either.
I think for your average American, a bike is the best and most efficient way to go fast, hands-down. A $10K used bike with $15K worth of work will blow the doors off of $75K dream machines. That's a hell of a lotta bang for your buck, and it costs less than the Honda your wife's been bugging you about.
Definitely, the bikes offer the most bang for the buck. The least expensive car in this test(the Mclaren) costs 6 times what the Kawasaki does.

I paid $4000 for a CBR 600RR a couple years back. 10.68 quarter mile time as per some online articles. That's sea level and a pro rider but I think that will give most cars a run for their money that cost a lot more.

Exactly. Growing up and in high school, I always thought how cool it'd be to own a porsche and be able to go fast. Then in my mid 20's, I got my first bike (GSX-R600) and then a couple years later got my all-time fav, '08 ZX-10R. The last was brand new $9,909. Since then, although I no longer have the bike, I've never been interested in throwing more than $25k at a car, and that money's for safety, not speed.
Track, strip, I named it. Your point is still invalid as far as strip goes. So what it runs on pump, where will it be when it rains or snows?? Same place as the dragster. Many of us can't afford that particular bike...

Honestly, the performance of the H2R is not that impressive, especially since a well tuned BMW S1000R can make in the neighborhood of 210 rear wheel horsepower, naturally aspirated, and weighs about 75 lbs less. For less than half the price. A Stock Hayabusa with a pipe and fuel tuning will run over 200 mph with a skilled rider and some regearing, for under $15K
