    Default Raise your glasses...

...in memory; we have lost two of the greats today.

The first, Sir Christopher Lee. 93 years young, ancestor of Charlemagne, real-life James Bond, actor supreme, rock star. He will be missed.

The second is lesser-known, but no less adored. Virgil Runnels, better known as Dusty Rhodes, The American Dream. Professional wrestler. WWE, NWA. I grew up watching professional wrestling with my Dad, and AAFES made sure that while we were in West Berlin, we got to see all of the pay-per-views for free. It didn't matter the shift you worked on a PPV night; you packed into the dayroom or one of the 24-hour centers that had a TV and rooted for the good guys and booed the bad guys. He will be missed as well.

Lee went out on top. Rhodes, I remember him when I was young. May the be in a better place.

Sad to hear about both of them. I liked Christopher Lee in the old horror flicks, to being a Bond villain and all the way up to Star Wars and the Tolkien movies. He was also a WWII vet and served in the British spec ops and intel fields, so even more respect for someone who was able to do that. He was also the only person in the LOTR/Hobbit movies that actually met Tolkien.

As for Dusty Rhodes, he was a mainstay in my childhood as a large portion of the few good memories I have with my dad are watching WWF and NWA on TV. His promos are still the gold standard to live up to, and his matches with the Four Horseman are still rarely topped.

These truly are hard times daddeh....

A toast to both although I have never cared for wrasslin.
Christopher Lee was also the best "Dracula" next to Bela Lugosi.
    RIP

Sir Christopher Lee was truly an extra-ordinary man.
