Care to verify where you got the info that everyone there was unarmed? Do you have a source?

Let's say you're not a cop, surrounded by let's say 10(to keep it interesting) 14 yr old teenagers that won't back down and are harassing you. What would be your response? Ask if any of them are armed? What if after asking multiple times they still don't answer you and a couple of them posture towards you? This all takes place in under 30 seconds, what would you do?

Could not agree more not every single person that wears a badge is correct. You can't just mess with some teenage kids and draw your gun. Sorry if I am not being my upbeat normal self, just had a 45 minute ordeal with Aurora's finest, for absolutely no reason. My wife and I decided to take a walk down the Highline Canal in Aurora towards Mississippi, than Aurora's finest decided to ask us both for identification. My wife is Hispanic so they wanted her identification because he wanted to make sure she is a legal citizen. I told my wife do not give him her identification at all after 45 minutes of shit talking the sergeant came and said we can be on our way because we are not breaking any laws. Not one apology from that smart mouth piece of trash that called MY pregnant wife an illegal. So sorry not all cops are gods gift

Been there done that. Final score NYSP 15 GK-0 The troopers 1st mistake was grabbing my spouse by the neck (while she's 5 mths pregnant) His second was pulling / trying to pull his gun on her. Now the other side of that was when an easy dozen troopers had their guns to my head / body. Their order to comply was followed. This cluster fuck in Tx , there's enough blame to go around. You're on the loosing end at that moment, no matter how many cameras are rolling. Stop Fighting, Comply, let the attorneys handle it.

I'm not saying that his every action was the right one. I will even agree that he did escalate the situation a few times, I will also say that his draw was a good draw. You're seeing the guys coming at him from a different angle than he had. He did NOT point the weapon at them, he handled that situation properly in my opinion. Did you notice that when he returns at the end of the video he is spitting etc like he had just taken a can of mace to the face? The other 2 extremely calm officers are the ones that handled that, must have been perceived as a threat to them as well.

Those kids were nothing but confused by the whole incident. You can try to call the usual "we don't know" BS but there were two or three kids talking to a cop when he ran up and started yelling. This is America and innocent till proven guilty. So on that line you show me anywhere a weapon was seen in those videos (they were just going to the pool) and then we can talk but that girl sat there when he left her to then come back and man handle her like that? Are you kidding me with the thin blue line BS..... and you wonder why cops are losing more and more trust every day? It is sickening to hear anybody defend that behavior.

I don't believe GK is implying that the officer was correct on his actions. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that everyone who sees that video will acknowledge that the officer was clearly out of control. [ETA: Except, maybe Hotchef]

I think what GK is trying to say is that becoming engaged in that situation could realistically, at a minimum, result in an arrest up to and including having that out of control officer shoot you dead. Corporal Casebolt appeared to be the senior officer on site and the other officers, while not out of control, were following his lead. Other than complying with his demands, any other behavior by anyone engaged would have not been good for that individual. Had I been there, I would have first sought to extricate any family members from the situation, if possible, and from a safe distance I would have remained to be the best witness I possibly could and pursue complaints or other courses of action after the fact. Anything else would put you into a no-win situation.

That's why the other cops pulled him off, he was tough with the little girl but was a chicken when the general public stepped up to stop him from beating her.!

So you did not comply......... To protect your own. I FULLY respect that. The others cops sound like they were in control of themselves and then you did comply. Ya, you have to pick your batles but this guy lost it from the get-go. Don't protect what is obviously wrong. He resigned today over his actions and I hope that is not the end of it. He did a real disservice to the rest of the cops (who did handle it fine from what I could see) and cops around the country at a time when this is the last thing cops need.

Confused?? Like they thought they belonged there and they had no idea why the cops showed up? Really? It's not "we don't know bullshit", we actually don't know yet.

Actually the the first part of my post "let's say you're not a cop" clearly laid out what I was asking. The thin blue line comments don't apply to my questions. Maybe you are reading someone else's posts.
