    Default jurassic park gun choice

o.k. so i just got done watching the flik and thought it was ok. then the very tiny light bulb went off in my head...if i was in any of those situations and had to pick one gun to roll with what would it be? it appeared that the main raptor trainer was rolling with a marlin ss 45/70. well, i thought about it more and thunk'd to myself it would probably be better to roll a big bore ar in either the 50 beowulf, shooting brass solids. not knocking the 4570, i just would prefer to have a quicker reload. the other thing would be faster follow up shots which i know would be needed....remember when u post it has to be somewhat of a mobile platform...i dont think an 82a1 would be "mobile" and the gun has to exist right now on the commercial side...i did this from my phone so sorry about the grammer and ea.

    Since you're fantasizing...

    A 338 Lapua mini-gun.

I haven't seen the movie....there is an excellent chance I never will.

    M203 with API rounds.

    Saiga 12 with slugs.

What? It was in a movie, so it has to be real.

M134 Gatling gun, I would need a crew to handle the particulars. I have a list of folks.

You didn't say it couldn't be a Crew-Served Mobile Weapon Platform!

I loved the gun in that movie, it was almost as hot as Ron Howard's daughter. That said, there isn't a gun I would choose. If I'm on the ground I'm rocking a flame thrower, something to scare it away because I don't see any gun taking a T-Rex down quick enough. The flame thrower will at least facilitate a get away, I'd hope.

And I wouldn't choose a GAU-17 (M134) for a gunship, I'd be rocking the ma deuce with AP rounds.

You know me well enough that ya.... Barrett 50BMG 82A1 is arguably a mobile option for me that being said maybe a P90. It is not big bore but with 50rds, armor piercing (to go through that thick of a skull), 400yds being too close in general but what most of that movie seemed to be playing with, it might make sense. I don't think a 458 would carry enough momentum to punch through dino skulls at any real range. Ok.... Not going with the 82A1.... I'll take the M107A1 then.

Dinos had really tiny brains. I don't think head shots would be the answer.

I like the flame-thrower idea. They would probably be afraid of fire, as most critters are. I don't think there would be enough portable fuel capacity in a scenario like this.
