    Default Arvada shooting range

There is a proposed plan to develop a public shooting range in West Arvada. Right now there is a vocal minority who are opposed to this great idea. Arvada is taking public comments, so I want to encourage everyone here to send them comments to build the range. https://arvada.org/blunn-pioneer-feedback

Not much space allocated for a shooting range.

I am generally not much in favor of government subsidized entertainment. I've often wondered how so many public golf courses can be justified when public archery and firearms ranges cannot be justified?

I would assume that most public parks present a greater liability to the taxpayers from injuries than just about any well run range.

Government is derailed when it chooses winners and losers in the realm of public opinion.

Great question, cstone! Before now, I have never heard that a golf course(s) was publicly subsidized...

In terms of the community, it seems to me that a subsidized golf course is nothing more than an outward display of the "overflow" of wealth in that area....in hopes of attracting more wealth... In any case, most of the community doesn't use a golf course and it's a massive space using tremendous amounts of money and water to operate/maintain....

Even still, I voiced my opinion in support of the plan as it stands today (to include the shooting range).

So I live in Arvada and this is the first I have heard. I don't see anything on the map...any other details you have would be appreciated.

Al_g posted a link to an Arvada website.
In the Related Links on the right-hand side of the page, the "Refined Concept" link points to:

FWIW, if you click on the Related Links>Frequently Asked Questions page, don't be surprised when the links to the Jeffco Shooting Range Working Group are broken.

As the OP mentioned ... The vocal naysayers are STRONG towards the shooting range and LE training facility. (Not much support for prairie rats either ... Combine w/ shooting range? )

let your our voice be heard ... I was one of the 500 selected residents.
