    Default Weatherization program

I don't know how many folks on here need help with weatherizing your home but if you qualify due to low annual income I highly recommend trying this.
I contacted Regina at Arapahoe County Weatherization p)303-636-1982 and supplied a copy of my SS income and drivers license. I live in Adams county but this outfit serves my county also.
To my surprise I actually qualified for some help since I live in an older mobile home which has issues in the winter.
An energy auditor came out and spent 4 hours checking everything out and to my surprise I also qualified for a new refrigerator !! The 13 year old one didn't meet their efficiency standards.
Next guy came out and sealed the outside furnace and water heater closets, covered the water heater with a new blanket, sealed useless return floor vents, supplied a cover for the ceiling swamp cooler vent, made sure all the boots for heat vents were sealed, supplied 2 CO detectors, and returned with sealed insulation blankets to cover the inside of the skirting.
I actually turned the furnace on the next day and noticed a big difference in air flow and heat. I had the furnace replaced in 2000 and apparently the installer didn't do any of the extra work the furnace needed to work more efficiently.
New fridge was delivered today Sears Kenmore brand with ice maker and frost free-they match what you have. Installed the new one and took the old one away-my son was hoping to get it since there was nothing wrong with it but the swap out is part of the program.
I'm hoping that someone on here may be able get some help like I did with this program.

That's awesome. At least someone is putting my tax dollars to use for something good.

Good for you! I have a DV buddy who lives up here who was able to get some serious updates to his home thru this (or a similar) program. He would get ice dams 4' thick on the back side of his house. The guys came out and did all kinds of stuff: New insulation in the attic, 2 new HE furnaces, all kinds of sealing work on drafty areas...no ice dams this past winter!

I'm happy it worked out for you. Good to hear people who actually need the help sometimes get it.

^ The auditor thought they might be doing more insulation work but the whole program is based on the data he puts in. He called and told me some of the work he thought they might be doing came back as not cost effective. I was happy just to get whatever I qualified for. Actually looking forward to winter this year haha !

I was able to utilize this program for my mother-in-law and they have fixed a bunch of stuff that otherwise would have been left to me. She is in much better hands having had someone else help her. Thank you very much for this thread. I hope this bump can end up helping someone else as well.

^ she might also see if she qualifies for the LEAP program. It helps with heat bills from November to March.
