why would you need to do that?

I haven't tried. highly doubt I could even come close to 9 sec.

My Army "Soldiers Handbook" from basic training in 1985, and the issue I have on .PDF from 1999, make no mention of a time requirement for field stripping the M16.

The soldier must demonstrate the ability to disassemble, reassemble and function check the weapon, but there is not a time requirement.

A “GO” or “NO GO” is based off demonstrating the task, and performing it correctly.
