And this is why twice a year we bug bomb the house, and treat the yard to kill bugs. Good bugs, bad bugs I don't care....less spiders the better

I believe it's a cat-faced spider but a young one as I don't yet see the tell-tail signs of the two points that protrude from the front/top of the abdomen. When it comes to spiders (like snakes) it's important to know what are the poisonous ones in your region. Rattle snakes, black widows are the two big ones to worry about in this neck of the woods. It's possible to see brown recluses but much more rare this far north. Everything else helps to keep those things away so just killing all of them w/o any sense of knowing what's what could be eliminating your enemy's enemy.

When I was a young whipper snapper in the late 90's I lived in an apt complex that felt that regular bug bombs was the answer to their 'bug' problem. I've never seen so many black widows in one place (my apartment as well as the garages I rented) and I'm convinced to this day it began as someone thinking they were doing good by eliminating ALL spiders & bugs and what happened was the ones that were actually dangerous to use thrived w/o any natural enemies.

When we built this house I found the biggest black widow I've ever seen in my life in the garage after closing & before moving in. This tells me that they're in the area. Ever since then whenever the wife finds a spider in the house I gently relocate it to the garage. I've never seen a single widow since that day and it's been a decade this summer.

Oh but it was Mr. Parker. We have all seen you swinging between the tall buildings in downtown Colorado Springs at night.

It generally takes you five minutes. What do you do with the rest of the evening?

When I was younger I was terrified of spiders. I don't know why but they just don't bother me any more. Living where we do they're a common occurrence inside and outside the house. No big deal. We have the occasional BW, too.

I've heard that black widows love ants, so, get rid of the ants, get rid of the black widows. I don't know if that's true, but at the Alpha2 abode, we keep the ants down to around zero, and haven't seen a BW for years.

I see Black Widows every year. I wear gloves and carry a can of Raid whenever I go into dark, damp areas.

Albuquerque is infested with black widows. They are everywhere, I know of three that live near my house. Two have guns I think. They don't care here, they don't live in dark places. No those crazy mofos are out in the open.
