My boy thinks the best McDonalds in the world is the one on 10th street in Greeley, because it has a play place with a rock climbing wall. He's been unusually well behaved of late, so I took him there tonight as a reward. I left the play place area to get him an ice cream, and when I came back, three women had their I-phones out and were recording video of a white Suburban leaving the parking lot. I noticed it was parked right next to my truck, so I asked one of the ladies if it had struck a car or something. She said "No, that is my car, and it is being stolen."
As I watched it round the parking lot, I saw a beige SUV with the spotlight things that looked a lot like an unmarked car. So I walked out of the McDonalds, slowly up to the SUV, and asked the woman if she was law enforcement. Then I said, "You know that white Suburban that just passed you on the way out of the parking lot? A lady inside says that it's hers, and somebody just stole it. The lady cop called it in on her radio and took off. I went back into the McDonalds to hang out with my boy and eat ice cream. The women for whom the Suburban belonged was calling to report the theft to the police. A moment later, she says "Oh my god, they just caught him!"
Every now and then, everything just falls into place.
