Default Ugh, the Mile High Nationals SUCK

Here it is 10:40pm, I live 7 miles away from Bandimere, and it sounds like they are drag racing right outside my window. It's a little freaking late to be racing 10k horsepower jet dragsters, don't you think Bandimere?!?!? I've been up since 4am. I need some sleep. Someone tell them to shut that shit down for the night. Fuck.

    That is all.

I give your rant a 3. And they aren't jet powered, they're nitro engines. Jet drags are for exhibition only.

Mile high nationals happens once a year. It's not like you have some asshole train engineer blowing his horn at 3am at least twice a week, and your house is about 200 feet from the tracks. I counted 25 seconds he laid on it crossing a park entrance, that was closed.

2 more days and the Nationals will be over with.

I lived 100 feet off of the tracks in Boone. That was brutal 3 or 4 times a night.

I'm surprised they're running at night. Every time I've been there, it's been the hottest part of the day on the hottest day of the year. They also seem to drag (no pun intended) things out as long as possible, to keep the spectators there. Stopped going after a few years of that crap...

    Rant = 2

Bandimere has been there 56 years or so....Mile High Nationals has been an event there forever.

How long have you lived out there?

Complaining about the noise of 10,000 horsepower?
    Turn in your man card.
    Now!

But seriously I am in the "you knew the track was there when you bought the house" camp.
Like the people that whine about air shows when they bought a house by Jeffco Airport.
It's three days out of 365. Next year go camping for the weekend.

Somebody needs a good whiff of Nitromethane....I am hoping to come home from Bandimere tomorrow sunburned, tired, eyes and nose burning, ears ringing and covered in a fine powder of rubber!
    'Murica!

On a similar note, I grew up about 5 miles SW of where Englewood Speedway used to be (Federal and Oxford). Every Sunday night during the summer we could sit on our porch and hear it like we were there.
The sound would "bounce", 1/2 a mile away from the track you could barely hear it.
Sounds like your in the "sweet spot" too.
    Good times.
