    Default My Bullet Caps

I originally meant to replace one single valve stem cap on my truck. I had finally noticed after a couple years that one of my caps was completely different than the other 3. I set forth to make a replacement... I just happened to set one of the caps I was going to make a copy of on my bench next to a 45 round. After I got done setting up the lathe, I looked over and saw the two next to each other, and decided what I had to do! The first set for my own truck was really easy to make. They are to SAAMI specs, exactly like a 45 cartridge. This is what they look like on my stuff.

    Isn't SAAMI a pressure spec?

I did something like this, but the caps didn't make it past the first tire rotation. Scoundrels!
The funny thing is...one of my associates parked near me at a jobsite, and noticed the caps! Then he looked at the car, and saw the company logo...well, he knew exactly who it had to be. Am I that obvious?

    Of course not.

SAAMI has specs on correct dimensions also.

Yep, I'm making them for people now also.

I thought about picking up a set for the motorcycle but figured some jack wagon would just steal them. 45 seems a bit big. Pretty sure the ones I was looking at were about 9mm sized.

Spleify did a set up for me out of some spent nickel brass .357 SIG cases.

For the "perfect" cartridge dimensions which I wanted to stay as close as possible to, the wall thickness around where the extractor would come is would be too thin. I didn't want it to break. I went with a 45 because there is lots of room for metal, and after the internal hollowing, it would still be strong.

Ya, I've glued spent casings onto my valve caps before, but this time I wanted the entire cartridge, not just the spent case.

Those are sweet! As are the puzzles on your site. When you do a G19 let me know, I'd like one.
