Cut or buy new?

I want to go with a 14.5" barrel. Should I have the existing barrel cut (2008 Colt 6920) or buy a SOCOM barrel I can get for $250 probably less (it's a new in the wrapper that belongs to a friend, he never mounted it). Thanks. I know, 1.5" is negligable but it's just something I want to do. He also has a Kineti Tech http://www.kineti-tech.com/kineti-te...leeve-2-piece/ he'll include. Thought I'd get the brake permanently mounted if I do this.

For $250, i'd SBR the 6920 and put the remaining $50 towards having the bbl cut and threaded. AS for permanently attached, Once under 16" you have no choice. Include the permanently attached brake to the smith cost, you're better off going the SBR route.

I thought going the sbr route would be more costly, adding in the attorney cost, plus the long wait for the nice people in Atlanta (thought they were in D.C. oops).

Buy the second barrel and then you have two. Buy another upper and some handguards and you can pop two pins to suit the mood you are in.

Not in a financial position to do this otherwise I would, but I do appreciate the suggestion. I have another "want" that takes precedence over this as looking further into it the price is going up lol.

Wait untill PSA has their 14.7's in stock, you could probobly sell your complete colt upper for more then the new upper if you don't cut it down.

Just form 1 it by mail / paper. From the return times i've been seeing paper file has a 20% speedier approval time. If you want to go the trust route, save your pennies. UNLESS your CLEO is not one ho believes in such things. Then i would keep the 6920 stock and go with a stripped lower, building as time & $$ allows a nice 223 pistol with sig brace.
OR....... as CStome said, buy another barrel.
