Colorado has two good in-residence Gunsmithing schools; Trinidad reportedly being the best. From what I've seen, there are a fair number of folks in CO who've attended these schools and most haven't been able to turn it into a full time career where supplemental income isn't required. There's just a lot of competition here in the state among the in-residence folks and you'd be starting at a disadvantage to them by getting your training via a home study course.
I personally know a few smiths but only one will ever get my business - even if he's way up in the North Metro area and I'm down in the Springs. That person is Bert of BPTactical. He's earned the outstanding reputation he has, but worked hard to get there.
Just my two cents on the subject.
