Only time I've been around one it didn't work so well, but that was on a line of about 40 rifles and the guy that owned it was bitching up a storm that it wasn't working. But when you have that much ambient noise going on, it's no wonder it didn't work too well, not to mention the amount of lead flying through it's field of view.

That said, I love my magnetospeed, and I've never needed more than that. Beats the hell out of setting up a traditional chrono.

I would not anticipate using it with a lot of others on the same line but that does sound like a legitimate issue to contemplate before purchase.

Been looking at these since shot show last January. My $79 el cheapo from Competition Electronics (Pro Chrono) has served me so well for 4 years now, I find it hard to fork out that kind of money. I am now looking at the Lyman to get a few fancier features and stay under $150.

So many delays with this product. Can't wait to see it actually working in the field. Some of the initial industry reviews were positive, others were mixed. Supposedly they're shipping a few units now to distributors, for expected availability in late sept/oct. So we'll see... sure looks pretty cool.

I'd buy a magnetospeed. Very little setup, and it doesn't care about others shooting around you.

Yeah, for non-free floated barrels maybe. I don't want a device hanging off the end of my free floated barrels affecting accuracy/POI, barrel harmonics, etc. And I certainly don't want to run through 2 sets of load ladders, one for chrono, the other for accuracy.

To each there own. I test for accuracy first, then check velocity.

I've also used them on my free floated rifles, and it only changed POI by about an inch.
