Take your time. Honor the memory of your friend, and allow yourself to grieve. I believe that when it's time, your next dog will find you, and then you'll know it's time. I'm so sorry for your loss.

That is exactly it. No puppy ever replaces your old dog. They are a new love in your life. I always try to have my dogs in pairs. When 1 dies the other will go into a deep depression, until you get them a little brother or sister. The bond that the old dog makes with the pup is special and life long. He is a really good looking pup BTW.

    Holy crap he's cute.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

Looks like trouble to me, hide the shoes and anything chewable.

I'd say he found a good pack (family), show us some pics of him in a few months, these pups grow fast!

I'll post pics as he grows up. He's already putting on some pounds! Maybe we should have a dedicated thread for dog pics? I'd like to see everybody's four-leggeds.

Ok, wanna see something I find a little peculiar? This is the last picture ever taken of Harry, about 30 minutes before he died, rolling and being a goof:

and this is one of the first pics we took of Calvin, shortly after he discovered the back yard. He flopped down and struck that same pose, at the same spot that the previous pic of Harry was taken. Didn't notice the similarity until we were scrolling through pics.

Congratulations! Calvin looks like a fine addition to the family.

Every Rottie I've ever had did that exact pose, is a breed thing.
