Self Reliance Expo this weekend

Anyone been to one of these things? Just got an email about it and wondered if it was worth $10

Expos and gun shows are no longer what they were prior to the internet. Retailers can dump poor sellers on the internet and then charge a premium at the expo. I cannot find interest in paying the door fee to look at way overpriced stuff.

that's kinda what i was figuring. some of the presentations look interesting (meds more than anything) but probably a dang first aid class would be just as helpful

I wish these were more interesting, but I've also been disappointed the last several times I've gone to a gun show, expo, whatever.
Maybe if you weren't already on the internet reading about things, it would be an option.

There's a long thread on prescription meds on arf somewhere, if that's what you were looking for. Has the typical arfcom "noise" but still there was some good, actual info in it at one point.

Well it certainly was not worth the door fee and the parking fee. The gist was several booths of solar panels, several booths of freeze dried goods, a couple booths of crappy camping and survival items, a really good booth of medical gear, however was way over priced. There was a booth for knives, again way over priced. They wanted a $185 for an ESEE 3. There was an M35 with trailer for sale, a Hummer for sale, and a few connex box/sea containers for sale. A couple booths of Berkey Water filters, a couple booths of books, and a booth of really cheap packs that looked like they were built like crap. There were a couple of other booths but really that is almost everything.

The worst part of this was there were several classes/demonstrations going on at the same time. It echoed in there so I couldn't hear anything. Whether you were trying to talk to a friend or actually listen to the lecture.

I agree that the internet has made expos something of the past. A lot of times I go to see what other information is out there or what new items there are. Sometimes to get more information on certain items. This was a complete waste of time and money.

Their website made it look like there would be a good number of vendors. We were in and out in less then an hour. That included the walk for the parking area. Was not worth the money.

As far as classes and demonstrations go I'm a lot more impressed with the gatherings that forum members have put together. It is my intention to hopefully attend more gatherings.
