I have a customer who has some issues with some leaky skylights that are causing a growing (slowly) mold problem on her ceilings. Unfortunately I'm unable to help her within the scope of my employment, so I'm turning to our community. Basically, she is an elderly lady living on her own with no family to help her and no funds to mitigate this issue. The skylights are already covered in roof cement from some previous roofer/contractor, and all the cement is cracked and water is getting in some where. Since she can not get a new roof and have the skylights properly flashed at the same time, she'll need something else. As far as the interior damage, it is basically water discoloration and the beginnings of mold in the acoustic ceiling texture. This is a mobile home in Northern Colorado, within a few miles of me.
Does anyone know of any local community outreach/volunteer programs that I may be able to contact to see if I can get her some help? I probed a little and while she does go to church "everyone else is old too" so she's not having any luck getting any help. Please let me know here, or contact me directly with anything you think may help. While I'm tempted to go over with some silicone (or flashing if I knew how to do a proper install) and some mold and mildew cleaner and take care of this myself, I'm unable to directly involve myself. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
