Default LOST DOG near Red Cone ***NOW REUNITED WITH FAMILY***

I haven't been on here in a while, but I'm desperate and trying to help a friend who is incredibly upset after losing his dog, and I just need to get the word out.

He was hiking Gibson Lake yesterday (Aug. 25) and as they started heading back towards the car (near Hall Valley Campground), his dog bolted ahead. After hours of searching, they never found him. Here are the details of his Craigslist post, along with some photos. If you are in that area and see this dog, or know anyone up there who found a stray, please let me or Ted know.

    THANK YOU!

    Damn....
Just Googled Gibson Lake Trailhead and went to the Forest Service site.
It says "DOGS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES".
I didn't see a description of the leash, only the collar and tags.

Sorry to hear about your friends dog.Tell him to take some unwashed article of clothing (needs owners scent on it) and lay it on the ground where the dog was last seen, and then check back later. I personally saw this work once when I was pheasant hunting with a friend in the middle of no-where Nebraska. His dog bolted off running after a wounded bird and was completely out of site in minutes. We searched until dark with no luck, so he took his t-shirt off and laid it on the ground where we last saw him, then came back the next morning to find the dog laying on it. Crazy, and I probably would not believe it had I not seen the dog run off that night and then at his house the next morning. Maybe worth trying, though. Best of luck!

    Thank you for the idea!

They are heading back up this morning to search again, and I have shared this with him.

That sucks. It is also why we keep our dog leashed, just cant completely trust him to stay close. Live and learn i guess, just sucks its the poor pup who pays the price.

Yeah ... I'm not even talking to him about the leash issue. I know he's devastated and feels like a complete assh*le already. What's worse is this happened while he was hiking with his brother - came home to the wife without the dog... which I'm sure that just makes it harder on him. And they got him just over a year ago.

    Heartbreaking/tragic/sad/awful/terrible life (leash) lesson learned.

We all tend to trust our dogs because it works at the park (except we don't let off leash at park because too many people). We did the same thing on a recent camping trip. Last year there was a guy frantically looking for his pup up at Fall River Reservoir.

I have some friends that live really close to there. I passed on the post, hopefully the pup turns up.
