Default SimliSheep= unless your a trained professional, dont grab a weapon.

Saw this advertisement on Facebook http://simplisafe.com/blog/what-to-d...ing-a-break-in

Just dislike most of the ad from SimpliSheep. The unless you are a trained professional dont grab a weapon because you dont know how a burglar will react to seeing a armed person. Maybe I am overacting but honestly hate seeing being a Sheep promoted by such a company. Enough of my rant.

They are selling to a community that thinks a simple alarm will be enough to protect them. The website is structured to appeal to that group of people. Don't get hung up on it.

There is virtually no "information" websites that aren't selling something, and therefore focused to improve sales of that product. Read through and look for ideas that didn't occur to you. Ignore the rest.

I they're just trying to sell their products and they don't want any liability for "telling people to grab weapons and start a firefight in their neighborhood" or something totally out of context like that.

Do I disagree with their suggestion 100%? No. Pepper spray in a confined space is a terrible idea. Grabbing a knife (with no CQC knife training) when the bad guy has a gun is probably a pretty bad idea when there are better options. If you have never shot a gun before, but your spouse's handgun is available in the closet or bedroom, should you just grab it? Maybe, maybe not. I honestly wouldn't trust my mother-in-law to know how to load and fire a pistol.

Would I follow their suggestion? Nope. I wouldn't charge out of the bedroom with guns blazing, but having a firearm ready to fire and barricading yourself in a safer spot is the best way to increase your odds of surviving the encounter. Insurance can buy you a new TV and new jewelry. Insurance cannot buy your kids a new dad.

Whats your problem?? You've been in CA how long and haven't fallen prey to the Double Barrel Joe defense?

I just liked the picture of people vacating out of a second story window because they heard a nose downstairs.

Might not be a bad idea if you think you aren't equipped to handle the perceived threat downstairs... But I don't think that's what they had in mind.

Are you shooting them with tracers? Too soon?
