I've been thinking about making the switch. Don't think I will at work because I depend on too much software (some of it old) that might get broken by a new OS.

Main reason I've been putting it off at home is that the new EULA has a couple things I don't like.

    1) You can't shut off automatic updates in the "Home" version (which is what I believe we all get for free ... not sure of the "pro" or "enterprise" versions will be free upgrades).
    2) They can disable any "unauthorized" hardware. In an effort to stop piracy they can shut down hardware that they don't like ... I don't like them having this power.
    3) They can delete any "unauthorized" programs. Not to defend piracy but every time I've seen any system use such draconian anti-piracy methods they always end up destroying files and deleting programs that you have every legal right to be using but somehow don't mesh with what the OS thinks is "authorized".

I dunno ... maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age but this "free" "upgrade" to Windows 10 makes me think of this guy:

Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

I'm curious to see if uTorrent got deleted in the upgrade on my home machine... If it did, I can always roll back to Win7 pro...or Ubuntu...

For everyone worried about data collection and reporting, what kind of phone do you use? Do you use Google Chrome? This is happening all the time, and has been for quite a while. Even your bank is selling your info & telemetry data. This is nothing new. Everyone is out to get your Data; MS, Google, Apple, EVERYONE. At least MS is telling you up front what Apple, Google, Etc are doing behind your back.
You want to hide yourself? You have 2 options. 1. Unplug yourself 2. Get smarter and more technical than the trackers.

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.

I have upgraded to it on a guinea pig computer and home and it is working fine. It however did break the VPN and reverting to Windows 7 didn't help.
It does work waaaaay better than Windows 8 but that is not saying much.
    Take a look here - http://www.computerworld.com/article...indows-10.html
You can turn quite a bit of the unwanted features off but time will tell what big brother is sending back to the home base in Seattle

Pro will upgrade to Pro. Home to Home. Enterprise will not be a free upgrade, as it is available through Volume Licensing only.
