Default Police officer murdered in home

    http://www.leoaffairs.com/fallen-her...tiple-parties/

Lots of cops don't carry off duty and I'll never understand why. I ask everyone on this board to stay vigilant and if you see something suspicious in your neighborhood don't hesitate to call 911. It can save a life.

Not to take away from this tragedy, but I had no idea that law enforcement could get a search warrant for a whole cell tower.

I have actually never heard of that and it would be news to me as well. Maybe that's why they need federal help for something like that. But I really am not sure

Cell tower information. This is transactional data that indicates which phones are calling at what time and relative direction and distance the phone is from the specified tower. Orders can be written for multiple towers to recreate routes traveled and locations where the phone was stationary as well as associated numbers being called or making calls in order to build networks of associates.

These are fairly standard affidavits that have been written by LE to support investigations for about 20 years now.

Cell phones are basically complicated computer controlled duplex radios. Add some GPS mojo and Google Earth to make some very impressive courtroom presentation. Even without audio (court ordered wire tap) this type of information can be very convincing to judges, prosecutors, and juries.

So this article says it was a "planned, coordinated attack" on this officer.

I'll be the first to say that I've had a few interactions with a few power-crazed/asshole police officers who continued to try to escalate situations even as I tried to de-escalate; yet I still have the greatest respect for the majority of LEO's and their profession at large.

I think that the situation of officers getting targeted/killed has exceeded the point where anyone can deny that there is a war from some element of our society (I'm not referring to specific races but more towards a criminally-minded demographic) on law enforcement and their goal is to kill as many LEO's as they can and achieve a little notoriety along the way.

We know that, without our help, LEO's are ineffective in controlling the vast amount of crime that occurs. There are a limited number of police officers and too many places to be at any one time; they just can't be everywhere. So, while seeking to limit the effects of crime they now have to watch their backs knowing they are targets. Solution? I believe that there are plenty of citizens that could help watch the backs of these officers without hindering their jobs or putting themselves into dangerous situations. Witness. You see something that puts the officer in danger, act quickly to say something.

Stay vigilant and (when the opportunity is present/right, thank an officer for doing their increasingly dangerous job.

People just don't have any respect for human life. Criminals just kill whoever and don't care if they die or go to prison.Prayers sent.

If you believe you are the most important thing on this planet, why would anyone who gets in your way of what you want, slow you down?

IMO, self importance, or pride, is the biggest thing that motivates most of the crime in the world.

I want what I want and damned be anyone who keeps it from me. Fame, recognition, drugs, wealth, power, etc... all to feed ME and who I think I am.
