I must say though, my experience is a lot of officers are not vigilant for themselves. Examples:
Casually walking down the street back to the office or car. Coat, Lunch box, Coffee in hand, by the time they could react, they are probably done.
Hanging out at their "post" for the day, chatting with the other officer, assuming nobody is going to come in that office building and start shooting.
I just think with the way things are, they would be a bit more attentive to their situation and surroundings.
I do what I can when in the areas to be a third set of eyes, minor things have happened and I believe I'm as much involved as the others, if not more. (non leo employees)
