A little help with an old scope
Picked this up in a trade package and I'm trying to decide whether to keep or sell at a this point.
I know it's a redfield wide field 3-9x but the rings have me completely stumped. I didn't take a pic or measure yet but they are 2 different heights as well.
Can anyone help with ring ID and value on the scope ?
Those are Ruger (factory) rings. Possibly one of the rifle combos offered way back when on the 77/22's . I had a similar set up (w/redfield) on a 77/22. The original owner said that's the way he purchased it, new.

Interesting. Any thoughts on what the setup is worth ? I'm probably just going to sell it since I don't really have a use for it.

hmm..might make more sense to buy an old .22 to mount it on. Thanks for the help Jim

Those rings are Ruger specific. They don't work on any other rail.hmm..might make more sense to buy an old .22 to mount it on. Thanks for the help Jim

If that's an older Redfield it is generally a good basic glass. I would pull the rings, sell them and put the scope on something else. If you were closer I would offer to buy it for a little more than $20. But I have enough old scopes laying around not worth shipping to me. It would go nicely on an old Winchester 308 I have though.

That scope was made in Denver. Good glass, the wide view was a marketing gimic. Told to me by a lead engineer at Redfield. He later started Burris with Don Burris in 1971.
