Default Blackhawk down near Devils Head..

    Any reports yet?

    http://kdvr.com/2015/09/02/reports-m...ouglas-county/

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. -- A military Black Hawk helicopter went down Wednesday afternoon in a forest in Douglas County, according to Douglas County Dispatch.
The helicopter was originally reported down in Elbert County, but crews aboard SkyFOX said the crash was about five miles southeast of Devil's Head.

Fort Carson officials said the helicopter suffered a hard landing.
Air ambulances landed outside the forest, near the crash site, and rescue crews were making their way to the crash.

All four of the soldiers on board were evacuated. Two of them were described as "injured" and being treated at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. The other two were checked out at the hospital as a precaution, but were expected to be released Wednesday night.
Very good news considering the potential outcome for this type of event.

At the time of the accident, the Black Hawk was on a routine training mission on U.S. Forest Service land in Douglas County when it was involved in an accident. Fort Carson officials said the helicopter suffered a hard landing as a result.
"A hard landing"? I've experienced hard landings in helo's; this was a crash.

Curious about the whole "was involved in an accident" which "resulted" in the "hard landing". There's more to this story.

Probably some recreational shooters in the forest mistook the Blackhawk for the TV at which they were shooting.

Very glad to hear that everyone has survived so far from the reports. Last thing I expected considering the situation.

I have had Fort Carson helicopters buzz the house, fly low level circles around the house and one time they landed a few hundred yards away. I thought they had crashed and jumped in the car to see if they were OK. They took off before I got to them. I never formally complained to the military authorities. All these flights were in violation of FAA rules. These fights have been Chinooks, Blackhawks, etc. After seeing these antics, I would have to guess they were cowboying around Devils Head. The past year has been quiet around here. Leave me alone, I'm retired...

Yeah, "hard landing", my eye. Definitely a crash. Amazing there were no fatalities by the look of the trees that were taken down by the helo.

Tail boom at 90* to the fuselage is not a "hard landing."

The definition of landing comes into play here. If you can walk away its a landing. If they have to carry you away its a crash.

I'm glad they all survived, no matter what kind of arrival it was. I wish them well and a speedy recovery.

Took ground crews 30 minutes roughly to hike into the site. Agreed, glad they survived and hoping too for a speedy recovery.

FYI Lt. Col. Brown as well as Chief Johnson of the SO used the phrase "hard landing" multiple times at the briefing.
