Default Anybody on here a tax attorney ?

So not that it's news , but the IRS is smoking some serious crack. Got a letter months ago saying that we owe an obscene amount of money with no explaination as to why.

Sent all kinds of documents proving we don't owe them shit,
got 2 letters over the last few months saying they are reviewing stuff , then just got another bill for even more money. Don't know what to do at this point.

We don't have money to give them a dime , let alone pay for an attorney. My blood is boiling right now.

All I can tell you is also good luck trying to go to an office. Denver appt only and still long wait. Fort Collins has one dude, I've watched people arrive at open and get seen at 2pm.... If he's out such or training office just closed..

I would start by calling and speaking with a rep. Sounds like there might be someone else using your ss number reporting additional income.

I used to think hate for the IRS was somewhat overblown by irresponsible types etc. Then I got to work in one. Fun job trying to tell people it's an 8 hour wait.

If you are getting close to them garnishing your wages grab a Form 2159 off their site and get it to your payroll office so they can get something in place before IRS sends a Form 668-W to them. A 668-W will garnish all of your wages except 396.15 every two weeks.

Something I read the other day says it's illegal for the IRS to notify you that someone stole your SSN and is using it.
