    Default Over 3 Trillion Trees

Earth has 3 trillion trees. But is that enough?

These 'climate change' jackwagons are unbelievable...
New estimates suggest that planet Earth is home to eight times as many trees as previously thought.

When faced with deforestation statistics that seem daunting, the fact that there are 422 trees per person on Earth sounds a bit more reassuring. But is it?

On Wednesday, researchers published the most comprehensive assessment of global tree populations ever conducted, revealing findings that blew previous estimates out of the water.

Prior to the Yale-led study, Earth was believed to be home to 400 billion trees, but the new estimate is nearly eight times higher – 3.04 trillion. Researchers arrived at this estimate based on data collected from satellite imagery and ground-based tree density estimates from more than 400,000 locations worldwide.

But while this magnitude of newfound trees sounds promising, the reality is actually not as bright. “The number of trees has fallen by about 46 percent since the start of human civilization,” said Yale University ecologist Thomas Crowther, lead author of the study, in an interview with Reuters. “Each year there is a gross loss of 15 billion trees and a net loss of 10 billion.”

They were off by 8X for what they now understand...but they can conclude that there are 46 percent fewer than the start of human civilization? They were off by almost a full order of magnitude, but they're sure that there are precisely 46% (not 45% or 47%) fewer now. How in the hell would they know?

...and we're expected to believe them on what the global temperature rise will be in 50 years even though all of their models are wrong?

    These clowns are delusional.

Heard about this today as well. Earlier in the week I heard something about someone working on an artificial tree (CO2 into O2 exchanger).

From the reinventing the wheel department....we don't need artificial trees. The real ones are quite effective, and their lumber makes prettier furniture and burns nicely in the fire place.

Well as long as they keep running their mouths the trees will continue to breath. But along with that's the heat they expell is simultaneously melting the glaciers, rising the water levels and causing climate change. Hopefully they will decide whether to shut up or keep running their mouths to save the planet.

Updated data from NASA satellite instruments reveal the Earth’s polar ice caps have not receded at all since the satellite instruments began measuring the ice caps in 1979. Since the end of 2012, moreover, total polar ice extent has largely remained above the post-1979 average. The updated data contradict one of the most frequently asserted global warming claims – that global warming is causing the polar ice caps to recede.

The timing of the 1979 NASA satellite instrument launch could not have been better for global warming alarmists. The late 1970s marked the end of a 30-year cooling trend. As a result, the polar ice caps were quite likely more extensive than they had been since at least the 1920s. Nevertheless, this abnormally extensive 1979 polar ice extent would appear to be the “normal” baseline when comparing post-1979 polar ice extent.

Updated NASA satellite data show the polar ice caps remained at approximately their 1979 extent until the middle of the last decade. Beginning in 2005, however, polar ice modestly receded for several years. By 2012, polar sea ice had receded by approximately 10 percent from 1979 measurements. (Total polar ice area – factoring in both sea and land ice – had receded by much less than 10 percent, but alarmists focused on the sea ice loss as “proof” of a global warming crisis.)

NASA satellite measurements show the polar ice caps have not retreated at all.

A 10-percent decline in polar sea ice is not very remarkable, especially considering the 1979 baseline was abnormally high anyway. Regardless, global warming activists and a compliant news media frequently and vociferously claimed the modest polar ice cap retreat was a sign of impending catastrophe. Al Gore even predicted the Arctic ice cap could completely disappear by 2014.

In late 2012, however, polar ice dramatically rebounded and quickly surpassed the post-1979 average. Ever since, the polar ice caps have been at a greater average extent than the post-1979 mean.

Now, in May 2015, the updated NASA data show polar sea ice is approximately 5 percent above the post-1979 average.

    Repeat the lie often enough...

Kids coming out of schools over the past 20+ years have been programmed with this mantra. They can't be convinced no matter how much data you bring.

Remarkable is right. There are a few of them right here on this board, I'm sure they'll come out and spout their lying idiocy pretty soon.

I guess there actually was an upside to attending crappy small town schools, they weren't instilling much of the BS, including the OP.

But I learned about our destruction of the polar ice caps in an animated movie with cute penguins and polar bears. That couldn't be a lie.

Oh and while this may be a great hoax, wait about 10 to 15 years when more documents regarding the President having his college education paid for as a foreign exchange student. For the record, I believe he was born in Hawaii, but used his time in Indonesia to his benefit by falsifying his nationality when it benefited him. Everyone gets lied to; it is the way of the Chicago Democrat.
