    Default internet service provider???

    alright who has what?

Just bought a house in the brighton area out near I-76 and will be needing a good ISP.

who do you have and what are you paying?
Would like decent speed but cost is the key.

I always see the bundle thing comcast puts out but I really don't want a home phone. also, is that price staying consistent or what are they doing to piss you off.

also same question for TV. don't need a whole lot, just basic cable or satellite. cost being the key here as well.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

im currently paying $60 a mo for comcast 8meg (16meg boost), the packages are how they sucker you into high prices. i started at $30 a month for just the net for 3 months, then it went to $60 a month. i was told if i added a phone i could get both for $60 a month for 3 months. now i am paying $120 a mo for phone and net (wasnt the telephone patented in 1876? talk about a rip off).

qwest fiber sounds nice if it is available where you live, the price starts under 20 bucks i think, havnt heard about the quality though.

maybe look at package deal through a satellite provider for tv and net?

Qwest DSL Deluxe, $28.00 month, 2 year contract. 768k up, 1.5k down. Been running for 8-10 years without much of a glitch, but I got in fairly early and have quality equipment they don't manufacture now. Everyone has different luck with different providers, it's a crap shoot really depending on the wires in your hood for comcast and qwest.

Qwest will do a "Dry DSL" meaning there is no phone line/dial tone, just depends on how close you are to the Central Office - must be within 18,000 feet I think?

My mother recently accquired comcast cable/phone, and all appears to be working well for her. I'm still waiting for the 1 year mark where they start jacking the rates on her with different "fees" and stuff...

    hope this helps a little.

    comcastic......
broken down we save about $25.00 per month having cable web service, land line and cable TV/dvr HBO ready tv. the spouse hates cell phones, will not even answer my cell if it's ringing!! the phone part has caller ID, forward, backward, unlimited long distance etc.
tv has DVR and on demand so we can either record for later watching or on demand if available to watch anytime. the call forward phone feature is nice for when on the road i can send calls to any number.

We has qwest DSL and after they decided to upgrade me not once ,but 2x to their top tier svc w/out my knowledge, not only cancelled i refused to pay my bill AND early termination fees. after getting jerked off by their lack of cust svc for 4 months they decided to vacat monies owed. i had documentation (or lack of for upgrades) but numerous other former qwest people who they did the same thing to. everytime they sent me a bill ,i called, and said take me to court, i'm not paying. they finally saw the error of their ways (that take me to court mantra) gone was any more bills

sad thing about qwest is they could care less about my busines. not once during the many ph calls did one employee even ask me what could they do to keep my business

I'm in the process of dropping Comcast for a Qwest bundle. My Comcast service has had intermittent drops for over a year and has been looked at by a tech. I'm far enough away from the CO that I can only get the 7Mbps service but even so the price will be dropping. Right now after taxes I pay $55 to Comcast, once I'm on Qwest the DSL portion will be $35 + taxes.

I've had some great calls with Comcast. Spent one call explaining how I could prove it was a Comcast problem and not my LAN. Running a continuous ping to the local IP of the cable modem along with one to the default gateway. Well packets drop on the default gateway but not to the cable modem. Pretty obvious if you know a bit of networking, which the Comcast agent didn't.
