Now I've googled this topic again and still nothing except the TTAG site. So this claim is unsubstantiated and baseless, if it were true we'd be seeing more than just references to the TTAG site.

Yes that is true, but I maintain that when the FFL goes out of business we know he must surrender all the forms from his files to the BATF. Now where do you think that they now go? Does anyone think that the forms are just destroyed without the info being put into an ATF database? Why do you think that the ATF asks on the forms the firearms serial number and make? If they are just concerned with your backround check, why do they need the gun info???? My favorite FFL retired, and all his records went to ATF, and with that all the guns serials I have bought through him for 20 yrs. So do you think the ATF knows that I own those weapons? You damn right they do!

The only place they go when the ATF gets them, is storage.
