Did anyone else see this commercial this weekend?
Really? At a time when our Constitution is being trampled on, our history is being distorted by leftist academics and media types, and our own president denigrates and degrades the nation at every turn, Budweiser makes a commercial proclaiming Independence Day as being about the freedom to drink beer? Maybe I'm just too sensitive after 7 years of regressive Stalinists destroying the country but this commercial really pissed me off. So much so, I submitted the following to their customer relations group:
While I don't drink Budweiser very often, I have generally been a great fan of your commercials and indeed your company. Most times, the commercials are well-crafted and represent an Americanism that is sadly disappearing. This weekend, I saw one that infuriated me. It trivialized Independence Day as a reason to party, to drink beer.
I see nothing wrong with drinking beer on Independence Day, beer and barbecues have been part of the traditions celebrating the holiday for decades but they are NOT the reason for the celebration. As a veteran, as a Scoutmaster, as a student of American heritage and history, I was (and still am) deeply offended by that commercial and surprised that someone at Budweiser thought it was a good idea.
There is a big difference between good humor (like your venerated Budweiser frogs commercial) or celebration and trivializing our common heritage. That most recent commercial was the latter.
