    Default Any HVAC guys here?

So I'm selling the house, and want to remove my Honeywell wifi thermostat, go to the Home Depot, acquire a cheapy to fill the hole.

I installed the wifi one, so I feel I'm pretty handy and kind of know my way around voltage. Anyway, it's late, I'm tired, I wire up the new one color for color, Honeywell replacing a Honeywell, should be straight forward.....

I hit hit the A/C, fan kicks, compressor clicks on, life is good...

switch to heat and nothing, then the amazing smell of letting the smoke out.

Seems in my tired state, and forgetting that the wifi version needs an extra power wire, and the new cheapy doesn't. I mistakenly hook up the "C" wire on the furnace circuit board, to the "B" wire on the thermostat. Now nothing works.

Ive checked the fuse as well as the circuit breaker, both good. So at this point, I'm pretty sure when I switched to heat, the thermostat sent voltage from its B wire to one of the other wires and smoked something on the board. At least the board smells burnt.

anybody have a RUUD Silouette board laying around or have access to one fairly in expensively?

I suppose I could pull the board and source the individual component that smoked and replace it. But at this point, speed is the most important, as the closing is October 9th.

Stupid part is that I was trying to not leave my $250 wifi thermostat in the house, now this is going to cost me significantly more... Idiot.

Any my help would be greatly appreciated.

Turned out being a blown transistor. Apparently I have a home warranty through the agent selling my house, covered it no questions asked.

    Today is a good day.
