Default Can a Lee 155 punch thru diesel engine?

This question should be un the humor section as it is in response to the "rolling coal" topic.
But, seriously can a lead boolit cause a modern engine to stop running if hit in the engine block; a 15 BHN boolit fired from a 300 Blackout at 2000FPS.
    Thanks

I knew a guy, former LEO who said a buckshot load from shotgun had stopped a running car when it hit the engine block and various items. ymmv.

That doesn't mean "stairs are bad" nor does it make someone who pushes someone down the stairs any less of an asshole.

Modern engine just shoot something electronic . Shotgun probably just shredded some wires and put it to sleep.

If you hit it just right, do you think it would cause it to "roll coal"...?

Will it do damage to the block? Unlikely at best.

If you hit one of the components that allow it to run like the cooling fuel or oil system its going down pretty soon

An aluminum block probably wouldn't hold up as well.

Diesel engines are exceptionally heavy, with lots of cast iron... the Cummins 5.9L/6.7L (it's the same series of "B" blocks) top the scales at over 1200 Lbs. To answer the direct question- NO, the block will not even crack from a 300BLK round. But cracking the block is not the quickest way to kill modern engines.

Every Cummins since 1998.5 has had some level of electronics... the VP44 engines would be vulnerable in some areas, the Common rail engines would have a LOT more vulnerable parts... hit ONE of several critical electronic part and it turns off immediately.

My 12V would keep going for quite a while, unless you manage to hit the AFC housing (part of the injection pump, and would likely result in the fuel rack going slack... sure it'll die eventually if you take out oil or cooling systems, but it'll last long enough to run down whoever shot it (I'm not endorsing that activity, just saying that don't count on knocking one out that easily)

This is a fun exercise... maybe I should make a armor plate for my AFC housing... hmm.

Sending one through the timing cover would probably do a good job shutting it down, depending where it hit.

One well placed shot to the windshield just above the steering wheel should do the trick.

Wasn't the 50 Boewulf designed specifically to do just that... crack an engine block from a round fired from the AR-15 platform? Didn't the Coast Guard and some LE adopt it for just that purpose. I remeber seeing a bunch of test data about it back in the day.
The Beowulf shoots about 200ft/sec slower than the supersonic Blackout with double the bullet weight and almost triple the surface area.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.
