Default "Hijacked my own Thread, 2015 SR5 Tundra Interest/Info/Advice"

Stole my own thread to avoid new/begging for a delete.

While checking service department happened across a 2015 SR5 Tundra. 7k miles "In warranty". Not sure what was extra add ons vs a base SR5. Had Sirius, no bed liner.

Find it very sexy. Price is at or below what I was looking at spending for new truck. The other options we had was a Ram Rebel but they came out at an absurd MSRP that was too close to the better Raptor. I have a feeling the 2017 rework of the Raptor I want, is going to be well above the 50k ish new MSRP now. I WANT it, but that's getting to irresponsible territory vs 34k for above before haggling/financing.

Other interests were Ram 1500's 4 door with 6ft ish beds or more.

Part of why I like the Tundra is it gets a full rear seat and 4 door with not uber leg room but retains a usable not 4.5ft shit bed.....

Current car should be worth about 10k.

Any huge nay's other than Toyota hate around here? To me seems like about what I was looking for, lightly used truck to take some depreciation hit, in the 32-38k range. Not sure what it's missing other than a bed liner, so easy aftermarket. Prefer if it was a TRD, but SR5 aint bad and I don't tow or offroad other than jumping the highway to frontage in extreme cases.... that and pawnee.

I mean I could afford the raptor probably in a year or two but my trade would be worth a lot less as well as eating up basically all my spare fun money.... Really big thing is I need to get out to a Dodge dealership to see how the used 1500's on hand stackup or possibly see if local Toyota has something even better.

Need to figure out how to check out multiple credit union/banks without having them all run credit checks and ding my credit. Last I knew should be 720+ so part of it is dependant on wanting to get good financing. X year 0% or looking for like 2% would be ideal. Wondering if Ford on a used lot (but again 2015 with under 10k miles) has decent finance offers.

PS: Dont steal my truck if you see it!.

Down sizing is easy as long as the brakes and suspension components will clear the wheels.

As long as the wheels have the correct offset, the formula for downsizing (approximately) would be

    -10 mm section width
    + 10% aspect ratio
    - 1 inch rim diameter

So in theory, your 225/40R18 should become a 215/50R17, however the R32 that came with 17 inch wheels was equipped with a 225/45R17.

Assuming that the correct wheels are used, then no spacers or other sketchy bodges should be needed.

That's where I'm dumb I guess. I'd need new wheels? In my head was just thinking skinnier /shorter tires, but already low profile theyd be like 1 inch thick lol... doh.

So economics questionable unless 17's mega cheap since I'd have to get wheels too. Long term sure but its 115k miles and hoping to sell/trade in the next 1-2 years.

    Thanks for info though.

Yes, you will need to buy new wheels and tires (if they even fit over the brakes) to go smaller

Throw the same tires on and rotate every 5K.

Re read first post, hijacked thread, edited title not changed for some reason?

I lucked out, I had an older tire same brand/model. Wear was similiar so slapped it on for $20....

Got it mounted but discovered in my up since 4am and it's late night, lost the lug key. So get to limp on spare to Greeley VW to get them removed Monday early am. Great timing on my wedding week.

Get to work sunday in style in her Juke.

We've got a 2012 Tundra and it has been awesome, not a single issue so far and on the plus side there's a factory super charger that won't impact your warranty..... tires yes.... warranty no.

We have the extra cab and I think that's what you're looking at, really decent room while keeping a usable bed size. We have both kids and the baby seat back there all the time.

Looking at double cab instead of CrewMax, (only 2 for the tundra I thought) Still usable rear if cramped a wee for kid/dogs. But I keep the 6ft bed I'd prefer.

You're right, double not extra, the CrewMax was huge but you lost a lot of bed. I've ridden back there quite a few times and it's not bad.
