What would you do?

This was posted on a FB group and people are saying they'd draw their weapon if they were in the car. I dont really think that's the best course of action. I feel this would be best:

Call the police so they can document and hear everything
Get out of the car and get off the road (since its stop and go traffic)
Wait for police to arrive.

Assuming the trucker stays in the truck, of course. IF he gets out, thats a different story but assuming he stays in, is the threat considered over as soon as you get out of the car and away from it? Some feel they'd be justified to shoot at the driver of the truck based on this.

I definitely agree with you. Get my family out of the vehicle, call 911 and record as much information as possible. If the driver gets out of the semi and approaches me then I'd take the appropriate action.

Do what you must to ensure the safety of your family and yourself. The car is just a thing, and can be replaced(by the trucking company's insurer). If the trucker attempts to engage further once you have removed yourself from the initial danger, then take appropriate actions to de-escalate or end the threat.

A few people are saying if their family is in the car, they're shooting instantly. I do not feel that is the best course of action.

I've been on the 91 when traffic has been completely stopped and the big trucks will camp right on your back bumper. I would have gotten my family out of the car as soon as it was hit the first time, got them safely to the shoulder and started the exchange of information process and finding any witnesses. I would not have moved my car anywhere until the CHP was on scene. Besides, I doubt that there is anyone in Riverside or Orange county that has a CCW permit so any weapons used would have been illegal. Only the well connected can get a permit.

1st mistake. Not allowing enough room between him and the truck in front of him. 2nd, NOT Dialing 911 / CHP ASAP. If it was a real life threatening incident, why no 911 call. Instead of him getting out and asking the trucker what his problem was.

IMO the issue is another one of people expecting someone else to handle a problem, instead of thinking for them self to get out of that situation.

Have my rice burner buddies swoop underneath of the trailer, steal all the electronics out of it, then do some sweet moves to avoid the cops.

no CCW around those parts, best course would be to get out ASAP and get to the side of the road while video taping the incident, luckily they have a couple witness videos so they will be getting paid from the truck company, and the driver wil probably face additional charges.
