I went to my younger son's (HS freshman) football game this afternoon. I was talking to my wife and mom after the game while the players were putting all the field equipment away in the shed by the varsity field. I looked over to see where my son was and noticed all the players were stopped and standing looking at something. Then I heard it, just barely, the National Anthem was being played for the varsity soccer game that was starting on the varsity field. The football players, all of them, where standing there at attention looking at the flag, not even talking, even the ones well away from the field. Once it was over many of them clapped and then they went back to putting the equipment away. Made me proud.
