I'm fond of used great condition tires, unfortunately 265/75/16's are pretty popular and pretty much non existent on the used market.

Sorry I missed this post. I probably could have gotten you hooked up cheap. I had a guy do a set of ATV tires for me for $20. And believe me, they are a way bigger pain in the ass than automotive tires.

There are sizes that are a common OEM size that are replaced <100mi after purchase... used to be that Dodge trucks would frequently buy Hummer tires/rims- after milling the hub diameter, they would fit perfect.
You gotta search for what else would fit... for that guy that bought used 285/75/16s to a tire dealer to find they wouldn't mount them on their rims... but you know one that will mount them on yours...

It's all about the clearance and the rim width/offset...

I believe Peerless is a bit cheaper than discount.

Well I know 285's will fit on the Xterra with nothing more than a fender well mod, but I'm not certain I'm ready to give up the gas mileage and performance of the 265 tire.

Next time take them to Big O at 74th and Pecos st., they will mount them with no B.S. or sales pitch, even if the tires are used and show wear.

Anybody know of any place up north here that isn't going to rape me on mount and balance?

    Thanks
