Default Lapping and aligning scope rings

I was wondering if it is necessary to align and lap rings when they are on a one piece mount like a PEPR or a Larue. Anyone know?

Waste of time on any quality mount / ring set up and will damage aluminum mounts and rings by removing the anodizing .

Not sure on a one piece. I lap using very fine diamond compound and the finish is superb. No damage to scope tube and a perfect drop in fit. If you use what is supplied in the lapping kit then you do chance a rough finish with small pieces of grit embedded in the rings and grinding on your tube.

And a third on this thought.

With the advent of quality CNC machining practices the odds of a quality mount being hinky are low.
If running two piece mounts alignment is more critical than the lapping.

Thank you, everyone. Expecting a new scope in November and I want to treat it right.
