    FORMER CONGRESSMAN: I’M QUITTING GOP

Tancredo was my Rep. for a number of years, and I must say, he's finally realizing what many of us conservatives have. The Republican party has become Democrat Lite. I found it to be an interesting read.

I actually just came to L&P to post this exact article. His reasons are undeniable, but I still don't know what it's going to take for the "GOP" and its old fuddy members to see their own hypocrisy and broken promises. This has been discussed many times on this forum, and still, the party-line GOP supporters just refuse to acknowledge their betrayal at the hands of their own beloved party. "PARTY TRUMPS PERSON", right?

I don't dispute many in the republican party have betrayed party loyalists. No question. It's not a matter of being a party-line supporter. It's a matter of understanding that the party (of the big two) that most closely aligns with your beliefs is the party to support. I'm not going to get into it again why the party is more important than the individual person. If you don't get it by now, you never will. For proof it's the truth you need look no further than liberals. Satan/Hillary herself could be on the democrat ballot and liberals and leftists would rally around her and get her elected. And they also know they only need to control the white house or one house of congress to further their agenda or at least maintain the status quo. And they're winning the battles everywhere else, too.

Why? Because they don't give a rat's ass that their candidate isn't perfect and doesn't believe exactly like they do. All they care about is getting their person in power because that means control.

Conservatives on the other hand are their worst enemy. Because they worry about principles instead of winning. When conservatives don't get the candidate they like they piss and moan and stay home and don't vote and let the democrats take the election. Then they piss and moan more about how bad life sucks with democrats in power.

The best chance to change the party is to vote for the person you like in the primaries. That's the best anyone can do.

The system we have is the system we have whether any of you like it or not.

And if you vote democrat or any third party you'll get full-blown, unedited, liberal democrat. Just sayin'.

So it sounds like real conservatives are screwed no matter what, huh?

And let's face it. There are a HUGE number of dem-lite people right on this forum (and it's doubtful any will admit to it)...that believe in gay marriage, legalization of some drugs, being soft on illegal immigration and so forth (the socially liberal and libertarian types). Many of the self-described conservatives on this forum really don't seem to know what that term means.

I've learned that there is no compromising with lefties. You can try and "meet them in the middle" on ideas but they'll only agree to their ideas. Otherwise, you're labeled as an ignorant bigot. Their idea of compromise is "We'll tell you how it'll be and you'll be happy with whatever we let you have.". They use emotion to sway people. They use guilt to make you feel bad for believing in what you do. Meanwhile, they laugh and poke and prod at everyone's expense that isn't on their side all the while, claiming to be "empathetic". It's a farce and I'm very tired of being labeled a bad/stupid person for having conservative beliefs.
