    Default Selling Father's firearms

My mom has decided to sell her house and downsize. That means going back to Oregon and cleaning out the house of stuff I want and helping the move and storage of stuff we want to keep but no one has room for.

I would like some advise on how to sell the firearms none of us want. I think there will be two different black powder shotguns one being a Browning. One a 45-70 with heavy octagon barrel for long range shooting. Has one of those flip up rear sights for the 500+ yard shots. He shot both black powder and smokeless from this breach loading single shot. Think it is also browning. There are some other firearms that will be available as well just need to wait and see what I and the bros want.

There is also a lot of reloading supplies and your thought on bringing back here.

I will post a full description and pics of the guns available once this happens in the spring but want to start the thought process on best way to advertise and sale process since I am not a dealer.

    Thanks.

You don't need to be a "dealer" to sell ANYTHING, providing it's legal. Black Powder and Curio & Relics do not require a background check.

Load every thing up, bring it back and post on the for sale forums.

Tom Gresham from Guntalk advertises for Dury's Guns in San Antonio. They seem to specialize in this very thing--tell them what you have and they'll give you a number for the package.

I've never used them, but a friend from TX says it's a good gun shop (of course, it may be a good gun shop for low-balling people on purchases like this for all i know).

I know the Shooting Sports Committee at Pikes Peak Council has discussed trying to get a muzzleloading shotgun so they can run a course. Of course, they have next-to-no budget so you'd be able to claim a top-of-market donation as a tax deduction but you're more likely to get direct cash by going through a collectible firearms dealer. If you decide to go through the tax deduction route, I can put you in touch with the committee although I may not be directly associated with Scouting next year.

Depending on the way he comes back. He'll probably pass by my area first.

As soon as you get there take some pics and post them here for sale. Put a reasonable value on them along with make offer. If you are unsure of value start high. That way if there is serious interest here bring them back, if not, Arms List there and get rid of them.
