Probably a good 10" at my house in Parker, maybe more. Considering that I HATE snow and my 2wd Silverado needs tires in a bad way, that's an official shitload in my book.

So when the forecaster calls for 8-14" of snow in Denver I'm going to assume they mean South Denver/Parker/HumanAntFarm where they all live. I've got mostly dry sidewalks and roads at 88th/Wads.

Snow drifts in front of my house range from 4-12 inches or thereabouts.

As far as tires go, I like chains on icy or packed roads but good knobby AT tires for thick fresh snow. The fresh thick stuff needs deep biting power while the hard pack and ice need something to break into the surface.

The reports I heard said a strong wind will blow everything to the South, which is more or less what happened.

Meh. We got 7 or 8 inches in east Aurora. Yeah, it's a snow storm, no(newscasters), it's not the end of western civilization, and there is no need for 24 hours news broadcasts, interrupted by alert signals and banners crawling across the bottom of the screen.

I suppose it's relative, but chains would seem like a huge pain to me. Colorado often has snow/melt/snow/melt cycles, unlike some place like MN where there's constantly snow on the ground. Taking them on and off all the time would seem to be more trouble than it's worth. Having decent tires/4x4 and throwing some sand bags in the back of a pickup or whatever and leaving them there all season sounds a lot easier.

Days like this I wish there were some neighborhood kids willing to earn some cash. Damn heavy snow.
