    Default Insurance claim, aarrrggghhh!!!!

Took the bike into the shop on Oct. 31, called insurance and started the claims process the same day. Fast forward to Wednesday Nov. 18. The adjuster, out of state so not in my local agent's office, tells me everything is good to go and the two party check was going in the mail that day (made out to me and the shop). Tonight I get home late, go online to pay my premiums and decide to look at my claims status.

The bike is at Avalanche Harley Davidson, which is in the same location as Freedom HD was but it's a whole different company. The adjuster talked with a service rep at the shop and notified him that payment was enroute so the parts order was pushed through (that's a whole nother story lol). Well I look at the check info and see it's made out to me and "Freedom Harleuy-Davidson"!!! Nothing to do but wait until Monday when I'll hear how the adjuster wants to proceed but she'll know I'm not happy. Can't wait to hear that my premium will probably go up too (first claim in 6 years)!

    Thanks for letting me vent.

That sucks, at least it is all getting fixed and will get sorted out.

Claims adjusters don't work in agents offices anyway. Sorry I'm no help other wise.

Claims, even when processed 100% as they should, still suck. My car has been in the shop for 3 weeks for $1k in damage. That's even scheduling an appointment to drop it off a month in advance. Sorry to hear about your frustration. Call your agent, explain what's going on and see if they can do the leg work for you.

Insurance is great, unless you need to use it.

Thanks guys, there have been a few small bumps in this process-always are- but everything sounded smooth on Thursday when I spoke to the adjuster last. I'm off all next week so it'll be easier for me to get this fixed. Unfortunately the "bad" check is already on the way to me, I know the shop is cool to work through this as the parts have been ordered.

Harley runs 30 days out on painted parts, as I need a new tank that'll be the last piece to arrive. Hope we have a mild January LOL.

Here's an update: the adjuster called this morning, very apologetic, said she would overnight a new check properly made out. Asked me to destroy the original when it shows. Also she said she'd notify the dealership as to what's happening. I'll check back to tomorrow to let you know.m
