Words of advice you've passed on

For words of advice I've 'passed' on:

1. Grandma told me to learn a trade because college was over-rated. She also told my sister who has a doctorate in theoretical mathematics that she should get a real career, like waitressing. We both passed on that advice.

2. Everyone told me not to get married to my first wife because we were young idiots. We ignored this advice and thought 'they don't understand the power of our love'. Turns out they did. That marriage didn't last very long at all.

Not bad, batting 50% . I'm still married to my 1st wife. Thankfully they never found the body.
