I'm going to go ahead and ask why anyone would want to do that...

So taking an off the shelf Colt 1911, throwing some drop in parts at it, engraving and coating it makes it a "Custom" gun???
I guess I am not surprised given the shenanigans that Gun Smoke was up to.
"Checkered mainspring". Reckon they really meant checkered mainspring HOUSING?
Why not?
The description is bogus, but attracts a certain (IMO ) uninformed buyer.
The engraver however (Jerry) is an awesome artist. He followed in his dads footsteps many a decade ago. Jerry takes the item and does what the customer request. He's a separate entity, only associated with GS for the engraving and not now an employee of BS (OOPS) GS

That barrel bushing looks like shit. At least face the muzzle end flush with the plug. Somewhere, a person thinks this is a great deal.
I thought the engraving at Gunsmoke was the son's territory:
"Kurt, 22, is the son of Rich and Renee. He qualified as a pistol expert at the age of 13 and is a gifted engraver, doing all of the engraving jobs that come through Gunsmoke. He hopes to one day own the shop his father has built up."
That may be an old description when the show had legs

I had one of their .38 customs that I used to trade up on a few things ...given the state of the show, business, and the people I actually wish I had held onto it.
Just to be able to sell it in 20 years as a "collectible" seeing as I suspect most folks will have removed anything Wyatt related from their collections. ...and he was recommended by a coworker that is actually friends with him, this was before I knew better.

Yes- the description should and will be cleaned up and corrected. It's a consignment and the owner is trying to get back some of their investment. It has it's flaws, like everything with the name Gunsmoke on it. But it really is a sweet little shooter.
