    Default The Resurgence

Curtis asked about this in another thread . The info just dropped last night .

    http://resurgence3gun.com/

This is the original 3 gun not the carnival silliness that it has evolved in to today . No walk throughs ,semi surprise stages , no gaming stages by running past targets , power factor with hit factor scoring so no more poke and pray for 2 any where on paper , and one class heads up .

Interesting, looking over the rule set some things stick out to me so I have "some" questions,

-Why is the Power Factor for major so high on pistol?
-No Compensators on any weapon unless general military or in issue form, So I'm guessing Surefire Comps are good to go but not JP comps?
-No brightly neon colored base pads? does that include red, how's is it even relevant?
-22inch barrel for shotguns, does that measurement include the extended chokes?
-Will 6.5mm (6.5 creedmoor, 260 REM) be considered as major or does it have to use a .30cal bullet?
-Will Iron sight shooters be able to use a reddot on their rifles or must it be True Irons? True Iron sight division in 3gun have been almost none existent for good reason until the acceptance of 1x Reddots. At He-Man 3gun Nationals 2 years ago when it was still a Iron's only division they had 3 people shoot it...
-Starting pistol magazine, many pistol's are issued with 18 and 19 round magazines (CZ's and Springfields XD'ms) Will this be allowed?

I'm going to have to weigh some of my rifles tonight to see which ones make weight both in Major and Minor Format. While I do like the nostalgia of this match and look forward to shooting it, there is a reason why 3gun has evolved the way it has, outside of the "carnival" gimmics.

Way to go Chuck. I just got the email. Look like a lot of fun. I will be interested to see who does well and who chokes. Do you think you will get many of the high-speed competitors?

    LOL.

Contrary to recent shenanigans to convince us otherwise, a red dot optic is an optical sight.

The PF is the original SOF PF. 10mm and .45 ACP easily make major with full power loads. .40SW might be close.

The only 6.5mm we considered for Major was 6.5 Swede as it's a military caliber but decided no because 'Murica.

Ironically this match is going to require more specialized gear then I have atm. Does anyone know if there is video out there in internet land that have the old school SOF matches, especially when they where in RATON? The current match staff is interesting also, you have current 3 Gunners and a bunch of Precision Rifle shooters that haven't dabble in 3gun in over 5 years since I started, and with this match being out in Logan, I feel that this match might feel more like a Semi-precision rifle match with shotguns added in. What are we talking about distance for rifles? MOA of targets? will they be painted and be easy to spot? I would like to shoot it with Irons but If you can't see the targets in all lightings then what's the point.

The reason most of the " precision rifle " shooters on staff haven't shot 3 gun since you started is because of the carnival silliness . Look at the staff names and target visiably and placement will be easily deduced .

Video hadn't been invented back then.

Well said Chuck. The reason we've run the stuff we have since 2006 (3-Gun included) is because it's what we wanted the sport to be.

I find it pretty funny that running 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5-gun matches makes us all of a sudden "Precision Rifle" shooters and apparently less qualified to run 3-Gun matches.

If you want to criticize us for not churning out square range 3-Gun matches lately, at least get the facts right. I was the guy who got up early to make Weld County 3-Gun happen from 1/2007 until 12/2012, which I count as 6 years. Thanks to JR for taking that over from me then. Anybody who runs local matches knows you need a break after that many years. Anyway, that change helped to permit us to sustain 4 major matches per year.

Don't worry about target presentations. I know at least Jimmy, Kurt, and I have shot real iron sights at major matches over the years and know what's reasonable (I didn't say "easy").

Zak I think you miss understood my post, it was never meant to be attack on you or your match staff. I never said anyone on that list wasn't qualified or I as questioning their ability run a match. I'm saying BASED on the staff which is strongly staffed with shooters that shoot Precision Rifle matches, are we going to see more of a precision based 3gun match (these details help me decide on what I will selecting gear wise). I love open field 3gun matches and that's why I'm not a member of 3GunNation, bay matches are ok time to time but not my fortay. If you think my post where personal attack I apologies but that's not the case.
