Nope, lots of it in CA back in the 80s too. I did a "third lieutenant" program with AFOSI at Travis AFB 30 years ago and got to go through (then) recent case files. Also remember an article from around that time frame where local drug gang decided to get pissy with a SOF guy in LA because he'd been reporting his observations to the cops. As I recall the story, he got wind of the pending attack and invited his buddies over for a barbecue after work and I guess they didn't have time to go back to the armory. Some very surprised, very unhappy druggies ...
Of course, today the Commie-in-Chief would demand they be court-martialed ...
