I was under the impression that this was a newest push against knives after the subway stabbings and against kitchen knives. (Vs before those bins and such were for other types of knives or whatever.) Years ago I believe they even wanted to ban the huge gobstopper candies because they were good bludgeon in a sock.

I was looking at one of these last month and trying to figure out if a magnet on a string might be fun.... then I decided I didn't want to get arrested in London.
