Flying with gun parts

Anyone have any issues lately? Parts not serialized items, ar upper minus bcg and other Odds and ends.
They will not be in my carry on but in my checked luggage just curious if any airlines or agency hassled you.

I'd claim them at the check in counter. While it's not technically a gun I'd err on the side of caution.

Firearm parts == firearms in many cases.

I got hassled over a BCG a few months ago coming into IAD. Had to orange tag it.

The argument, from the nice cop, was that lots of different people could bring various parts through and then assemble them in the secure area.

Granted that was for carry on.

I'd declare them at the baggage counter just to be safe. Doesn't take long and it's worth it to avoid the ass pain of dealing with a dumbshit who doesn't know their own policies.

Just box them up and ship them. No body cavity searches if the parts are discover in your checked baggage, no hassles. Problem solved.

When I fly commercial when TDY I normally throw my xds in its case unloaded and lock it, that goes into the luggage. Ammo has to be seperate. If you don't have a case that you can lock, I'd call the airline and see what their policy is to traveling with an upper.

The problem is if it even looks like part of a gun they have issues unless you just declare it and ship it as a firearm (extra $25). I understand that you may say "But it is just an upper and not a gun" So I walk up behind you and say "but it is just an upper" although this time it is a FAL upper and not an AR. The bimbo behind the counter has no clue that one is controlled and the other is not. I second the Shipping suggestion, lot less hassle. Guns are easy to take on flights.
