    Default Billet lower

When buying a billet lower would you buy the upper that goes with it or will any billet lower fit to any upper pretty well? I guess my question is do you get a better match by buying the set ?

probably a stupid question but trying to build an ar from scratch (never done it)

They should all mate pretty well to any upper as long as they are in spec. The only thing I could think of that may be different is the finish, some might be darker than others.

The only thing I would think if one is using different brands is the contour lines and aesthetics might not match up perfectly.
Fitment should be fine as long as their in spec.

Except for aesthetics, more weight and more money, there is no good reason to get a billet lower. If I wanted billet, it would be for looks and I would pick the one that looks the coolest to me.

I'd stick with a good forged lower/upper combo and use the money on other parts.
