However, because of these recent events with EOTech my department has ordered all EOTech's off of personally owned patrol rifles. EOTech offers a voluntary buy back program if your optic is one of the faulty ones. How I understand it from EOTech is they will give you current pricing on your optic if it is found to be a faulty one. That brings us to another issue as current pricing doesn't cover nearly what I paid for it to begin with nor does it cover the cost of another quality authorized optic to be put onto my rifle.
My department sent out a memo stating that if EOTech can verify the optic you are carrying is not faulty they will allow the optic be put back onto your rifle. I attempted to contact EOTech to see if this was a possibility. First they are apparently closed every other Friday, so I got nowhere with my first attempt. I then sent a lengthy email regarding the situation at the police department and if they had a way to verify my optic was not faulty. I had a one sentence response within 15 minutes stating, "This is not a recall program it is a voluntary buy back program" and they provided a link.
Of course I responded with another lengthy email informing the writer that i had never called the program a "recall" and know about the link provided as it was the same location I got the customer service email to contact the company. I pointed out to them that on their own website and their own admittance their product is faulty and nevertheless does not change my situation at the police department. I then re asked my question about verification. Approximately one week later I got a response that said, "No, they cannot verify the product using a serial number." And again was provided information about date ranges of faulty products.
Needless to say I have no purchased a Trijicon MRO to put on my duty rifle.
