Didn't Jer solve this issue with the roof mount like 3 years ago?

That was for a Taco. The adults are talking now, about storage in real trucks.

WE solved the storage issue some time back. Picked up a Sienna Mini-van. Plenty of hide a way places, easy access. AND with the right gear, we look like harmless senior citizens.

The seat back for the middle seat of the bench seat in the wife's dog Ram folds down to make a big center armrest....well the bottom portion of that seat is hinged too....AR pistol might be pushing it, but I know two Glocks have been stashed in there before.

Could prolly add some sort of securing method....

As Cstone already noted, evading and surviving is priority #1.

Nobody should be making defensive pistol shots at more than 50 yards. If you are more than 50 yds away, evading is likely a better option.

As for the OP's question, maybe a folding stock SBR or AR pistol in a backpack would be best. You can put it in the vehicle before you travel, and you could take it with you when you leave the vehicle so it wouldn't be left there for the taking overnight or when parked in sketchy areas.

"I am a conservative. Quite possibly I am on the losing side; often I think so. Yet, out of a curious perversity I had rather lose with Socrates, let us say, than win with Lenin."
